Dear friends,

I have been on livejournal for five years, and in fandom for close to ten years. *shakes head* This has been the home for great fannish writers, fiction, and discussion. And I eventually left FF.net for livejournal, so I can join in the great community of fannish people.

Admittedly,I'm a loner, I don't usually interact with a lot of other people. I mostly use this journal to post my fics, or comment of other people fics, or to soak up the great enthusiastic fannish aura here. I was happy to stay here forever. And this year, I even went so far is to pay for paid account for the first time ever.

However, in the last year I have witnessed some horrendous behavior from lj. I'm not at all happy with how livejournal has been treating their users. How they implemented a new design without any input from their customers. And  how one of the Russian staff that basically said that they couldn't care less what their customers wanted, and that we take our concerns and shove it. For example: http://theljstaff.livejournal.com/4189.html.

The staff proudly posted on the ljstaff page a link to article that said outright that livejournal doesn't care about it's users:

LiveJournal's leadership has made it clear that their future American business strategy lies in generating new traffic rather than catering to the service's current small-but-loyal membership. The challenge for Petrochenko and other executives at LiveJournal will be redefining the brand's identity in a crowded media marketplace.

I don't put up with disrespect from the people around me, from the companies that I patronage, or from the authors, and writers from my favorite television, movies, and books. This has always been turn off for me. It's one of the reasons I have skipped some more popular fandoms.

For me this is the last, and final straw. And so I have made the very hard decision, after five years of patronage that I'm permanently leaving lj, and moving to Dreamwidith.

I very much encourage all of my friends, and fandoms to do the same.

P.S: At the moment I would like remind everyone that Dreamwidith at the moment doesn't need an invite code to join.

I found the link to conversation of the previous mentioned russian staffer, who I discover his user name is [livejournal.com profile] igrick or I would like to call him iprick. It was translated from Russian to English by other Russian users. I also found a very awesome fanmix by [livejournal.com profile] dwg
